There are no autistics in that organization who are speaking.
Recently I find others expressing the same concern, notably Marc Rosen,
writing for the Long Island Autism Examiner
Why autistic people don't like Autism Speaks
I considered the information significant enough to host a mirror of the text.
It is important to mirror it as ithe link is hosted by the S.F. Examiner and links like this go away after a while.
I shall record for posterity.
The way Marc paints the organization is as one that sponsors the minimal amount of support for the autistic community while paying fat salaries to the people who work there
I am forgiving them somewhat as I find results of the research filtering down
which might address some of the problems I see such as not being able to work
The document can be found here
In that document I found the following: "Employer Initiatives and Tax Incentives Recognizing the potential of
individuals with autism to be competent and productive employees, a
number of large corporations (e.g., Walgreens¨, Marriott¨ , Wachovia¨, etc.)
have established specific programs designed to recruit, train, and hire
individuals with special needs. " on page 22 of a 50 page document

what could they do that would most benefit
the autistic community
