Gun-Controlled Chicago Passes 500 Homicide Mark

Rahm's solution? Throwing money at the problem.

9.6.2016 News Mark Tapson

Rahm Emanuel's Chicago had just seen 90 homicides in August, tied for its deadliest month since June 1996, when a deadly Labor Day weekend pushed the city's 2016 homicides well over last year's total -- with four months still remaining in the year.

Fox News reports that 65 people were shot over the weekend, nearly half of them Monday. Police attribute the spike in gun crime at the tail end of the holiday weekend to retaliatory gang acts.

The 13 killed brought the city's homicide total to 512 - already well past the 491 logged in all of 2015. Contrast that with New York's and Los Angeles' combined 409 homicides so far this year.

"It is a complex problem with multidimensional facets to it," Mayor Rahm said on Friday, before calling for more money to address the problem:

Nearly 3,000 people have been shot this year, 69 (six dead) during Memorial Day weekend and 66 shot (five dead) over the Fourth of July weekend. How's that gun control working out for you, Chiraq?
